This program is specifically designed for professionals who want to deepen their understanding of the fundamental principles of corporate governance or prepare for a role as a supervisory board member or commissioner. The course combines practical insights with theoretical knowledge and helps participants strengthen their supervision and advisory skills.
Governance Basics is a program aimed at individuals aspiring to become supervisory/non-executive board members, as well as (new) commissioners seeking to broaden and deepen their knowledge. A third target group consists of executives and (statutory) directors who wish to better understand the dynamics with their supervisory boards. Participants typically have a higher professional education or academic background (Bachelor+ or Master level). During the intake process, it will be assessed whether the participant’s entry level is sufficiently aligned with the course requirements. Participants can also earn up to 33 PE (Professional Education) credits. Feel free to contact us for options specific to your professional field.
Personal attention for the participant is central during Governance Basics. We therefore work with compact groups of up to 12 participants so that there is plenty of room for interaction and asking questions.
The program covers approximately 10 to 12 weeks and has an estimated study load of 45 hours in total, of which 30 contact hours and the remaining 15 hours are intended for other, own study time. By contact hours we mean the interactive lectures/workshops during the modules on location. The remaining hours consist of reviewing literature and study material, homework assignments, taking the psychological test to map your fit with a model profile of a supervisor, and preparing for the final exam.
A fixed offer consisting of different themes that are mandatory for every participant.
For those who do not have finance as part of their daily practice or who need to refresh their knowledge, there is the possibility to follow this elective block. In this, the necessary basic financial knowledge is taught/refreshed in order to understand the issues that arise in financial supervision.
This includes a review of the learning process, a keynote speaker will discuss a current governance theme and the participants will receive their certificate.
The modules take place during the afternoon (starting times from 14:00) until the evening (finishing no later than 21:30). The elective block Finance Basics starts at 14:00 and finishes at 17:00.
All modules take place live at an appealing location in Amsterdam (easily accessible by both car and public transport). Are you coming from far away? It is possible to stay overnight at this location.
The fee for participation is €6,990, including materials, catering, the test and the accompanying report. Due to our registration with CRKBO, the Central Register for Short Vocational Education, Governance Basics is exempt from VAT. Payment in installments is also possible.
