The Integrity Chamber Sint Maarten (hereinafter Integrity Chamber) was formally established by law in 2018 and is now embedded in the administrative field of Sint Maarten. The Integrity Chamber is a modern institution in a young country. The Integrity Chamber is an independent administrative body (ZBO) that aims to promote the integrity within the country. Its purpose is to contribute to the proper functioning of the public administration. The core tasks of the Integrity Chamber are (a) to advise and make proposals, (b) to investigate suspected wrongdoing, and (c) to provide ongoing education on integrity.
The Supervisory Council of the Integrity Chamber consists of three members, including a President. The position has become vacant due to the unexpected passing of the previous President. According to the National Integrity Chamber Ordinance, the Supervisory Council oversees the efficient performance of the Integrity Chamber’s tasks and the lawful and proportionate exercise of its powers. It also handles complaints about the way the Integrity Chamber has used its powers granted in the National Ordinance. Another important task of the Council is to authorize the special power of conducting on-site investigations.

The ideal candidate is a person of stature with natural authority and of impeccable conduct. Experienced supervisory board member, who is connective and collaborative. Competent President with excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. The candidate has an open and pleasant personality. Honest, reliable and someone for whom respectful interaction with others is key. An independent thinker who stands firm in his or her shoes and has an eye for accurate communication. Primus inter pares and team player. Familiarity with the social situation and the political-administrative force field on Sint Maarten is essential. Experience with decision-making and administrative culture in The Hague is a plus. Candidates coming from Sint Maarten or one of the CAS or BES islands have an advantage.
