Self-assessment

Reflection and outlook

Looking for a board self-assessment that offers more than just ticking a few boxes? We guide supervisory and non-executive boards through self-assessments with an independent, fresh perspective and a strong understanding of boardroom dynamics. With our governance expertise, real-world experience, and structured yet personal approach, we create space for open dialogue, sharp insights, and practical improvement. In doing so, we strengthen not only the board itself, but also the direction and resilience of the organization.

Our approach
Our methodology

The self-assessment is an opportunity to look ahead as a team and set direction. Of course, there is room to reflect on the past year, but the emphasis lies on where you want to go. We use a well-considered and proven methodology that allows for both depth and perspective. This helps us gain insight into team dynamics, collaboration, and areas for development. With our own experience as board members, we know where to listen closely — both to what is said and what remains unspoken. Our guidance is personal, engaged, and focused on growth, clarity, and progress.

The result? New energy, fresh insights and a board that looks ahead with confidence and coherence!

1
Exploration

In an initial meeting with the president, we agree on where the council stands and what questions or themes should be the focus.

This forms the basis for a customized program.

2
Intake & Interviews

In short, focused conversations with each member, we explore how the collaboration is experienced, what works and where there is room for development.

The interviews deepen the input from the questionnaire.

3
Analysis

Every council is different. Therefore, the questionnaire is tailored to your specific situation.

Analysis of the responses provides a report with keen insights through measurable indicators.

4
Plenary session

During the plenary session with the full board, we bring everything together and translate the insights into clear, actionable points.

At the end, you’ll have concrete tools you can put to use right away.

Multi-year offer for supervisory and non-executive board members

Looking beyond the annual self-assessment?

For supervisory boards seeking more than a yearly snapshot, we offer a multi-year trajectory focused on continuity, depth, and the sustainable development of effective governance. Over the course of three to four years, we guide the board toward a mature, self-sustaining evaluation practice. In the first year, we start with a thorough self-evaluation facilitated by an external consultant. This is followed by a period of thematic reflection and board-led evaluation sessions, supported with tailored advice (during the second and third year). In the fourth year, we conduct a new full self-evaluation, once again externally guided, focusing on both reflection and looking ahead.

Our approach blends external expertise with growing board ownership: professional, engaged, and future focused.

Strategic advice that creates movement

Understanding the boardroom inside out

Every organization has its own dynamic: from constructive tension to shared discomfort. We help executives and board members stay on course when things get complex. With attention to both content and undercurrents, we bring clarity, direction, and momentum.

Our consultants combine deep knowledge with hands-on experience as executives and non-executive board members. We know what works, where the friction lies, and what truly makes a difference. No lengthy reports, just sharp questions, actionable advice, and meaningful reflection. Our clients often tell us: “You understand what’s really going on – and you help create movement.” That’s exactly what drives us.

Clifton Wallé Chair supervisory board CUROIL
I have experienced twice what a self-assessment under the guidance of crmLINK looks like and that was very good! With a personal and professional approach, we as a supervisory board have critically examined our own working methods and formulated recommendations for our further development. Highly recommended!
Marga Buys Chair supervisory board SRCN and Chair supervisory board FPIB
Working with crmLINK means paying attention to people, careers, and the societal context in which they operate. Whether it’s a (non)executive search, a board self-assessment, or a tailored governance training, the great thing about crmLINK is that you work with independent, passionate professionals: people who reflect the same quality, commitment, and mindset you’re aiming to find, develop, or assess in your own teams. A true accelerator for your organization.
